Positive Turn

My heart is so overwhelmed with the blessings of the past couple weeks! We have received some very unanticipated yet miraculous news!

It started a couple of weeks ago when we went for a blood check, and JC’s hemoglobin count increased on its own by a small amount! This news was truly astonishing because since September 2021, her hemoglobin count has continuously dropped. This is why she needs blood transfusions (her body cannot make enough blood cells to fulfill her body’s needs), and the transfusions are the only treatment that has allowed her hemoglobin to rise. This was a completely unexpected and truly an awe-inspiring moment. However, we didn’t really know why, how, or what this meant.

Fast forward to last week at her blood check, JC’s hemoglobin increased by an entire point! In my mind, this is simply miraculous! A true gift from God. I cannot express accurately how astonished and grateful we are for this most recent development!

The doctors are not sure why JC’s body is starting to function better, and we currently have no medical explanation for this improvement. JC’s counts are still low, and she still has a fragile immune system. However, this feels very much like the sun bursting out of the rain clouds type of moment. The clouds and storm are still present, but the sun brings so much hope! Up until now, we have seen rays of light and indications that God is sustaining JC and us, but these last few weeks have felt like a huge break in the storm.

For the near future, we will continue to go to appointments to check her blood counts and assess accordingly. In July, JC will have another bone marrow biopsy completed to get a better understanding of what her bone marrow is doing and producing. In September, we will go for a repeat MRI to see how much iron is in her liver.

For right now, her hemoglobin has stabilized, and she has not needed a transfusion for 9 weeks! This is such a PRAISE – we give all glory to God for this! Her iron number has stayed below 1000, and the chelation is continuing to push the number even lower! This also is such an answer to prayer. I want to thank each of you who has prayed and continue to pray for JC and us; we are so very grateful! I hope this news gives you as much hope as it has us! May God be with you and be gracious to you!

The past couple weeks have been quite busy for our family, so if I have forgotten or neglected something, I may need a gentle reminder! My husband accepted a new job, and our schedules have been adapted to accommodate that change. It has been a busy season, but we are very grateful for the opportunities that have arisen.
